Fifteen of Yountville’s finest wineries were represented this year as part of a trade tasting through Premier Napa valley. This event as always was held in the historic barrel room in the Vintage 1870 Shopping Center.
Highlights included red wines from Blankiet, Kapcsandy, Dominus, Gemstone & Rocca. With most of the producers offering Cabernet Sauvignon or red blends it was refreshing to stumble upon Dillon Vineyards. Their focus is entirely on two styles of Chardonnay – one stainless fermented and one barrel fermented.
Premiere Napa Valley is an event for trade (mostly restaurant owners and wine retailers), always held in February and involves several hundred Napa Valley wineries who create special very limited production wines (60 to 240 bottles) just for this event. The Premiere week concludes with an auction – in which trade bid on these one of a kind wines.
