CrauforD Napa Valley

October 31, 2013 by Dave 7 Comments

CrauforD Napa Valley

CrauforD Napa Valley was founded in 1999 by Marilyn Crawford Corley; her daughter Carolyn was initially involved with the winemaking. Her son Chris is the current winemaker and his wife Julianna manages their source vineyards. Marilyn was married to Jay Corley; both were founders of Napa based Monticello Vineyards (Jay died in 2016). CrauforD released … [Read more...]

Anselmo Vigne

October 31, 2013 by Dave 1 Comment

has vineyards located in the hills above the Silverado Trail not far from Darioush and Signorello Wineries. Anselmo “Steve” Simi is the owner – he grew up helping his parents make their home wine. He looked in the Napa area for over 10 years before he found this ideal location to grow Cabernet Sauvignon. The land was site of an existing vineyard planted in … [Read more...]

Paras Vineyard

October 31, 2013 by Dave Leave a Comment

is owned by Jim Paras and contains 22 acres that he purchased in 1990. It is located on the hillsides of Mt. Veeder just off the road that leads to Mayacamas winery. Jim founded Jade Mountain winery in 1988; this label has since been sold. This is a unique piece of property in that Jim searched for a number of years for one piece of property that could … [Read more...]

3 Doors Down

October 31, 2013 by Dave Leave a Comment

is a “garagiste” winery located within the town of Napa. The city of Napa allows one to actually bond part of your garage and driveway as a winery which is what 3 Doors Down has done. We have visited a number of garagiste wineries within Napa, but this is definitely one of the smaller ones! This is a Napa winery well under the radar with a lot of potential. … [Read more...]

Vare Vineyards

October 31, 2013 by Dave Leave a Comment

is owned and operated by George and Elsa Vare. George is a long time veteran in the Napa and Sonoma wine scene. Many people who are George’s age have pursued retirement when they are coming from other industries but in our experience, long time veterans in the winemaking industry rarely “retire”. Rather they start new winemaking projects and manage … [Read more...]

Crushpad

October 31, 2013 by Dave Leave a Comment

was founded in 2004 (first harvest). Their “urban winery” was located in San Francisco for six years until they moved to Napa; 2010 was the first crush in Napa. They have setup shop at Silverado Trail Wine Studio which is located on the southern part of the Silverado Trail. Prior connections between William Hill (owner of Silverado Trail Wine Studio) and his … [Read more...]

Grant Street Vineyards

October 31, 2013 by Dave Leave a Comment

is owned and operated by Jim and Susie Wycoff. Their vineyard certainly classifies them as one of the smallest commercial wine producers in the valley with a mere 1/3 of an acre planted to vine! The vineyard is located within a residential neighborhood right in the heart of Calistoga. There are actually several vineyards in this part of Calistoga along and … [Read more...]

Silver Rose

October 31, 2013 by Dave 3 Comments

The tasting room at the old Silver Rose Resort is now closed – Silver Rose no longer has a tasting room in the Napa Valley. Many of Silver Rose’s wines have won Gold or best of class at prestigious tasting events around the nation. The owner J Paul Dumont used to vacation in the Napa Valley quite often and during one stay at “Silver Rose” learned the owners … [Read more...]

Diamond Oaks

October 31, 2013 by Dave Leave a Comment

is located almost halfway up the steep Oakville Grade just minutes from the valley floor and Highway 29. Trust us, this is not a bad location for a winery – nearby neighbors include cult winery Harlan Estate (you can see Harlan’s vineyards from this property), and high end producer, Far Niente. As a result of its higher than the valley location, on a clear … [Read more...]

Graeser Winery

October 31, 2013 by Dave 1 Comment

has a rich history; the buildings on site date from the 1880′s. The winery is located all by itself in the Mayacamas mountain range off of the Petrified Forest Road about a 1.5 mile drive from the valley floor and 10 minutes from Calistoga. This is one of the most easily accessible wineries in any of the hills above Napa Valley and they are open 7 days/week. … [Read more...]
